āļø Marble Chess Development Update ā Online Multiplayer Is Here!
A major new update has arrived for Marble Chess!
The game is expanding beyond matches against the computer with the implementation of a new two-player online multiplayer system. Players can now create a private chess session, connect with another player, and battle across the marble chessboard directly from their browsers.
š New Multiplayer VS Mode
The new multiplayer system includes:
Two-player online chess matches
Host a SessionĀ and Join a SessionĀ options
Private games using room codes and passwords
Shareable connection codes and links
Multiplayer lobby before the match
Ready UpĀ system for both players
Host-controlled Start Game
Host plays as White
Joining player plays as Black
Black's board automatically flips to the proper playing perspective
Moves and board positions synchronize between both players
Each player can only move their own pieces during their turn
Full chess rules and legal-move restrictions remain in effect
Once both players establish their connection and mark themselves ready, the host can begin the match and White makes the opening move.
āļø Play Against the Computer or Challenge Another Player
The original vs. PC modeĀ remains available, so Marble Chess can still be played as a traditional single-player chess game.
Multiplayer adds another way to play: instead of facing the computer, you can create a private session and challenge another player to a full game of chess.
š§ Multiplayer Will Continue to Improve
This is the first major implementation of online multiplayer for Marble Chess, and we'll continue refining the system as it is tested across different browsers, computers, and network configurations.
We've already been working on improvements to multiplayer game startup, board synchronization, turn handling, and piece selection for both White and Black.
The goal is to keep Marble Chess lightweight and easy to launch directly from a browser while steadily expanding its multiplayer capabilities.
The marble board is ready. Choose your opponent, make your opening move, and let the match begin! āļø
