Modern Warfare II continues the story established in the 2019 reboot, with the campaign set in late 2022. The game focuses on Task Force 141, an international special operations unit led by SAS Captain John Price (Barry Sloane). The team includes Sergeant Kyle "Gaz" Garrick (Elliot Knight), Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley (Samuel Roukin), and Sergeant John "Soap" MacTavish (Neil Ellice).
Throughout the narrative, Task Force 141 receives support from various allies such as CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell (Rya Kihlstedt), Russian private military company leader "Nikolai" (Stefan Kapičić), Urzikstan Liberation Force Commander Farah Karim (Claudia Doumit), Mexican Special Forces Colonel Alejandro Vargas (Alain Mesa), and Sergeant Major Rodolfo "Rudy" Parra (Bayardo De Murguia).
Additionally, they face formidable adversaries including Major Hassan Zyani (Ibrahim Renno), an Iranian Quds Force officer allied with the terrorist organization Al-Qatala, and Valeria Garza (María Elisa Camargo), a member of the Las Almas Cartel who goes by the alias "El Sin Nombre" (The Nameless).
